PRIVACIQ, ECUADOR AND DIGITAL PRIVACY CHALLENGES
At the PrivaciQ event, hosted by Centro de Autonomía Digital (CAD) in collaboration with the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at Universidad Central del Ecuador, we engaged in critical discussions about digital rights and privacy as fundamental human rights. This year's edition focused on "Ecuador and the Challenges of Digital Privacy" against the backdrop of internal conflict and temporary suspension of certain rights in the country. Our session explored the complex relationships between work, individuals, data, and our environment in the context of artificial intelligence use and development. We analyzed practical strategies for protecting personal information in the digital age using open-source tools and free software, empowering participants to strengthen their digital autonomy during these challenging times.
Through workshops, expert talks, and panel discussions, we addressed concerns about privacy defense in digital networks during periods of crisis. The event created a vital space for community dialogue where attendees could learn protective measures when privacy rights face heightened threats. We extend our gratitude to CAD for organizing this timely and essential forum that brought together diverse voices to build collective digital resilience in Ecuador's current social context.
